If your moving company isn’t popping up in the Maps 3-Pack, you’re basically invisible to the customers ready to book today. The good news? Most ranking problems come down to a few simple issues — and they’re all fixable.
First, a lot of movers don’t have their Google Business Profile fully set up. If your profile is missing services, service areas, business hours, photos, or a real description, Google assumes you’re not a complete business. A filled-out profile outperforms a bare-bones one every time.
Next, categories matter way more than people think. If your primary category isn’t “Mover,” or if you’re using odd secondary categories, Google just won’t know who to show you to. One tweak here can literally bump you up overnight.
Reviews are a huge ranking signal too. If competitors have 50 reviews and you’ve got 5, Google naturally trusts them more. But it’s not just the number — it’s the consistency. A slow drip of fresh reviews tells the algorithm you’re active and serving customers right now.
Another common issue is NAP inconsistency — your business Name, Address, and Phone number. If your website, Facebook, Yelp, and business directories list different versions of your info, Google sees that as a credibility red flag. Clean up your listings and keep everything identical.
And lastly, location matters. If your business address is outside the city you’re trying to rank in, you’ll naturally have a harder time. You can still rank, but you’ll need stronger reviews, better on-site SEO, and a tighter citation profile to break through.
When you fix these five areas — complete profile, correct categories, steady reviews, clean citations, and local relevance — your visibility jumps fast. That’s when you stop worrying about leads and start choosing the jobs you actually want.
